I have spent 25 years in corporate America both in finance and in market and consumer research. The final 15 years were spent working for the largest franchise brand in the world. I worked closely with franchisees to understand how they managed their businesses and then to analyze the factors that impacted results. She helped make the decisions on business tactics to drive end results and most importantly profit. In addition, I also did extensive research on high-volume locations and looked at marketing, people, operations, and facility factors to determine the main drivers of the business. It’s no surprise that people were the differentiating factors in high-volume locations and low-volume locations alike!
I left that company, and my husband and I opened up Aqua-Tots Swim Schools in Horsham and Mt. Laurel, NJ. Our goal is to open 5 more in the Delaware Valley area. We teach children how to swim from ages 4 months to 12 years of age. It’s a service business and relies on a staff to make it run. We quickly needed to develop systems, processes, procedures, and rules that would guide us in developing a People Culture. The one thing I knew was that we needed to be intentional about how we went about it. We would have a company culture whether we made it or not, so it would be best to create it ourselves.
From our former corporate experience and our own business company culture, I put together the tools for small businesses to implement in order to have strong people practices. These business tools are eBooks and soon to be digital downloads from the Happy People Culture Inc. My passion lies in driving business results through a People Culture grounded in transparency, kindness, structure, and love.
